01 / About

I build systems that find what shouldn't be there, in the air or on the wire.

Research and Development Engineer and Army Cyber Officer based in Sunbury, Ohio. My work sits where applied AI, RF sensing, and cyber operations meet.

I lead development and commercialization of a passive bi-static radar capability that uses LEO satellite infrastructure as illuminators of opportunity for counter-UAS and wider airborne-object detection, and I deliver hands-on engineering leadership across classified cyber and mission-focused R&D programs.

I still wear the uniform part time as a Captain in the Ohio Army National Guard, where I help lead a defensive cyber team, build training infrastructure, and ran incident response as a joint force team lead during the Ohio Cyber Guardian 2026 exercise. Before that I spent two and a half years at Fort Drum as a Brigade Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities Officer, a Data Science Team Lead, and an Electronic Warfare Commander.

Born and raised in the Dayton, Ohio region, where my wife and I met as high school sweethearts and attended the University of Dayton together. We now live in Sunbury with our daughter and a very enthusiastic Aussiedoodle. Outside of work I mentor youth in cyber through volunteer programs. The fastest way to grow this field is to hand someone their first terminal.

02 / Capabilities

Ten things I'm actually good at.

Building and training machine learning models for real detection and classification problems.

Trained and validated network-packet classifiers reaching greater than 99.8% accuracy and precision; now applying AI/ML to sensing and cyber training environments.

Passive sensing, illumination geometry, and system-level tradeoffs across antenna, RF, and software-defined radio interfaces.

Leading a passive bi-static radar that leverages LEO satellite signals to detect UAS and other airborne objects, from concept through customer demonstrations.

Defensive and offensive cyber across military and commercial mission environments.

Led development across classified cyber security and capabilities research programs, and led a joint force incident response team during a state-level cyber exercise.

Electromagnetic attack, support, and protection in support of brigade and division operations.

Commanded an Electronic Warfare element of roughly 40 Soldiers, planning and executing EW support for division and multi-brigade missions.

Data pipelines, metrics design, and visualization that leadership actually uses.

Stood up a brigade Data Science Team and shipped a live administrative metrics pipeline from source data through Palantir Army Vantage to Microsoft Power BI in six months.

Threat hunting, vulnerability assessment, and coordinated response on mission networks.

Built virtualized training networks and detection tooling, then led joint force incident response during the Ohio Cyber Guardian 2026 exercise.

Reconnaissance through exploitation using industry-standard tradecraft and tooling.

Conducted offensive penetration testing on military networks (training), chaining Metasploit, Wireshark, and Burp Suite to find and exploit critical vulnerabilities.

Scripting and tooling in Python and Bash: automation, data work, ML deployment, and the small utilities that keep a team moving.

Wrote the build and automation scripts behind this site and its CTF, and deployed ML models into cyber use cases.

Turning operational use cases into requirements, roadmaps, and demonstrable milestones.

Coordinated engineering, product, and business development around a shared roadmap that moved an internal research effort toward a market-ready product.

Leading technical and military teams in high-pressure, ambiguous environments.

Led CEMA for a 3,000-Soldier light infantry brigade, commanded an EW element, and currently lead a Guard defensive cyber team.

03 / Selected work

Things I built end to end.

Small hobby projects, built on my own time: design, front end, back end, and the unglamorous parts in between. Most of my larger work sits inside programs, agencies, and companies, so it cannot be posted here.

Capture-the-flag is how I got hooked on security, so I wrote three challenges for this site: cryptography, web exploitation, reverse engineering. They're not too hard, so give one a try and let me know how you did.
